My day did not start off very well this morning. First off......woke up to thunder, lightening, & rain.......knew there was no way Fritz was coming out of his bed and going outside, so just left him till later and came in to make my coffee. Opened the dish washer to retrieve the carafe....found it broken.....not bad....just the part where you pour. I found the broken pieces in the bottom.....only two about an inch wide each. Bad enough I could not use the pot to make my coffee....so, therefore, no caffeine to begin the day. I knew that meant a trip to Walley World for the replacement..........but, that's ok as I had a couple of other errands to do that were on the way. But first......two 13 by 9 pans of Jello Jigglers for VBS later tonight.........I forgot just how many pans we did make (smile). I think we've been feeding several little ones who come from very poor families & they don't often get enough to eat. It's ok......I don't mind. The first night we had 24.......the second night we had 34. That's very good for our size church and our rural area. I think our highest total since doing VBS with this Pastor has been 38. So.....the Jigglers were made, then I managed to get Fritz to go out when it slacked up in all the loud thunder and heavy down pours. After that, I decided to get myself ready to go & out the door I went.

My new carafe cost $10.96.........that's for a Mr. Coffee that I think only cost somewhere around $20 to begin with. Hmmmmmm.....that seems a bit ridiculous to me....everything seems to just be sky rocketing in price lately or is it just me.

Well......a situation that I thought might be taking place in a few weeks looks like now it may not be......it was something I was dreading to say the least but was going to "tolerate" because of who it was & the circumstances surrounding the whole situation. I had turned it over to the Lord as a matter of prayer......& still praying......but, hoping this is His answer. Once I learn it is for certain.....will do a little dance around the house! I am not a person who likes "changes" much of any kind & this was going to be huge.

Oh my......didn't realize the time here......I am off to bed. Have a good night.& will check in again soon. I've thoroughly enjoyed reading some of the blogs tonight.......some made me smile & as bad as I have felt all late afternoon and in through the evening....that is a plus

I see it has been a little while since I showed up.......couldn't be helped.....my mother had a death in her family (my late step dad's sister), so I graciously told mom if she wanted to go to the funeral, I would take her. We left last Wednesday for Nashville, Tenn. & came back home Friday night. I did all the driving as well as loading & unloading the car. Whew!!!! All total....we drove 771 miles. But, it was a nice trip except for the funeral & going to dinner with these people I never met before afterwards. That part was "stressful" to say the least. I found out later from my mother that all was not as it seemed.......that the woman (niece to the woman who had died) was never a very out going or friendly person....never wanted to have anything to do with extended family members. I said, "Well, it was nice of them to take us all to dinner at the Cracker Barrel (their son & his wife and little boy as well as mom's step son and his wife besides us)". Mom said that she felt pretty sure that the money spent on that meal came out of Novel's estate (lady who had died). The funeral was nothing more than a closed casket at the grave yard in a hot tent and lasted about thirty minutes. Only one basket of flowers . I thought it was really sad. I learned many things that day that I did not know about this side of my "extended" family members. I won't say any more.....

I finished up all the Lord of the Ring books.........including The Hobbit. I didn't know how I would like them before I began and once I started them, I could not stop until they were all read. Now, I am going to have to re-watch all three movies.....(smile)......the books were fascinating to read & there was sooooooooo much more that was not in the movies as well as I think they took a little bit of liberty so to speak with them when they made them. And, I think they did an awesome job choosing the actors who played Sam and Frodo........they were perfect. I think I read in the paper a couple of weeks ago that they are making a movie of The Hobbit that is suppose to be released in 2011.....which I thought seemed so far away.......

I am going to leave you now as this is Vacation Bible School week, and I have to make a stop at the grocery store before hand to pick up a meat and cheese tray that I had made up so that those of us who are the "workers" will have something to eat as many come straight from their work in the evenings during the week. I may cook a couple of nights making something that every one likes.........different ones of us do this and it helps out. I am one of the "puppeteers" as well as "kitchen help".......we always have a great time. Until then.............have a great week

I seem to be very busy every day this week....but don't feel I am actually accomplishing anything productive. LOL!!!
And, I am so tired......would just like to stay home and take a nap. Could be because I haven't rested all that well the last few nights.

Most of what I've been doing surrounds just running errands......so guess it is the getting in and out of the vehicle so often along with the high humidity and heat that's making me more fatigued than normal. Yesterday, took Mom up to the local vet so we could pick up some Heart Guard for both hers & my dog.....to the bank to cash a check......to eat at Cracker Barrel......then to Wal-mart so she could buy groceries (I did too) and then back to her place where I helped pack in all of her stuff from her car, put the car in the garage and unload my stuff out of the trunk into the old gray truck I've been driving around. Drove home and unloaded all my things and put them away. Whew! Makes me tired just thinking about it.

Today was doggy grooming morning....so, Fritz & I left early to pick up Dayse and take to Miss Di's. I was trying to pack in both dogs at one time under each arm. When I got up to her porch, I set Dayse down & told her to stay while I opened the sliding glass door. Well, needless to say, she didn't "stay", she took off down the steps and away she flew towards the truck. LOL!!! Her little ears were just flying & she wasn't about to stop when I called to her. Di came out and took Fritz from me so I could chase her down. Thank goodness she isn't like Fritz or I would still be looking for him. She stopped at the truck and let me pick her up and take her in. Di was just laughing. Obviously, Dayse didn't want a bath.....she wanted to go back home. I called Mom and told her....she laughed too. After dropping them off.....it was on to other errands. Paid the electric bill (which took a $44 jump from last month I might add here), went to the post office & then a stop by the grocery store as I decided I wanted to make some of that wonderful cole slaw I made the last time we had a Catfish Fry (which I plan again tomorrow night). YEA!!! Finally home......unload and put away the stuff from the store.....load up all garbage as I saw the truck hadn't come yet when I left the first time & took it up to the dumpster. Now, I have to get off of here and go back to pick up the dogs & bring home. Oh my.......and still need to get stuff done here at home. I also think tomorrow Mom wants me to take her to the Walgreens for her medicine refills........so that will be a long trip as we usually go to the stores such as Target & Penny's that they don't have over here by us. Saturday, maybe won't be too bad......am suppose to introduce Fritz to our Pastor's dog, Jake as I volunteered to dog sit for them when they take their daughter off to Jacksonville, Florida to start college in August. He is a special needs dog as he is almost blind because of cataracts. But gets around fairly well. Fritz enjoys being around other dogs that like to play......you would never know that he is ten years old because he still runs and plays like a two year old. (smile)

Guess I should go now.......have a great day and enjoy the summertime & out door stuff. Fall & Winter will be upon us before we know it!

There hasn't been a lot happening around here but getting all the hay cut, raked, baled, & put in the barn.....last twenty minutes was done in the rain, so at least it held off till then, so that was a good thing.

I had my quarterly check up at my Hem/Onc. doctor in St. Louis on Wed. It went pretty good.....all my blood work seemed to be holding.....the genetics test (the big one) will be back in about ten to fourteen days and it's the one that tells the whole story as to how well the medication is holding off the leukemic cells. Last time it was a big fat 0 and that is what we hope for this time......what that means is this......out of a million or more white cells that the test looks at.....no leukemic cells were found which means the Gleevec is doing it's job by successfully blocking them from forming in the bone marrow and taking completely over all the white cells in the body. This just means I am in sort of a "genetics" form of remission.......I will stay this way as long as I am taking this drug....if I go off of it, then the leukemic cells will start forming once again. These types of drugs are known as "target" drugs.......they target one specific type of cancerous cell & do not harm the good ones. Gleevec not only works with CML type leukemia but also is successful with some types of stomach tumors as well. The biggest draw back is the price.......for my thirty day supply of 400 mg. tabs.....3100$. Now there are some patients who take double that a month and some who are on 600 mg. a day. Thankfully, my insurance is paying all but my 25$ co pay...but, eventually, I think it will come down to us having to fork over more a month. Some people are already there.......the drug company does have a plan in place that will help those who can not afford it as well as for those who are uninsured. I just don't even want to think about the possibility of having to pay that each month.

She (the dr.) was concerned about my "eye problem" that I've been experiencing. She got a good look at the recent one that happened a week ago since it was so bad that it still hasn't cleared up much. She said if it happened again in the near future to call her and they would set me up with one of their ophthalmologists as there might be a blood vessel that needs to be cordirized (sp.?) I am hoping that I don't have any more period.

Guess we are just going to have a quiet Fourth of July with grilling some steaks. Just mom, Wayne, & me....Roger is up at the lake with some customers who came in from Wichita. They are in a golf tournament tomorrow. He told me that if I wanted to come up it was okay....but, I told him that I really didn't know these people and I just didn't feel comfortable about it.

Well......I see it is getting close to midnight and I am beginning to feel the bed calling me....so, I do wish everyone a Happy Fourth of July

I have really done nothing constructive today........or at least that is how I feel. I did gas up both vehicles while I could still get it at the lower price ($3.71 for regular unleaded). Wayne called me when he went to lunch and told me that the Phillips 66 next to where he eat had raised theirs to $3.99 but a couple of the other places were still at the low price. I decided to go and finish filling up the Escalade ($4.01 for premium) and thankfully, I didn't need much for it. Then came home and took the ole' Gray truck I've been driving for an everyday driver if need to get out and filled it up at Casey's General where it was still at the lower price, too. It took a bit more as it was down to almost half a tank. Honestly......I should have had my camera with me both times.....was completely ridiculous. One would have thought it was a gas war with 25 cents a gallon like in the "old" days the way the vehicles were lined up at all the pumps at both of the places I had gone to. And, as far as I am concerned, a jump in price this much is just plain wrong & I know it is simply because of vacations and the 4th of July 3 day weekend coming up. Guess I need to go on to something else, huh? Not a good subject

I love this new headliner.......I would love to be that woman walking on that deserted beach right now at this very time. Guess I can look at it and "dream" that it's me, can't I.

My eye still looks as if I punctured it with something.......I see my doctor this Wed. morning....so it should still be pretty bloody looking for her to see what I am talking about. Oh, guess she can't since I haven't been seeing her but the nurse practitioner. I've been taking my blood pressure throughout the day and recording it and the time to see how it is. My husband thinks it is spiking in the evenings. I don't know....doesn't look all that bad to me. (smile) But, I am not a doctor or nurse. I am convinced it is from my medicine......I found information regarding "conjunctival hemorrhage" from some information about the drug from the drug company. It is listed in the "infrequent" list. At least I now know what it's called . (smile)

We now have hay cut and on the ground. Trying to get it all cut, raked, & baled before Thursday as that is when they are calling for rain once again. The last couple of times when we were suppose to have it....we had all the thunder and lightening but only a few sprinkles.

Guess I am going to go grab a bite to eat since it is almost three. I've laid out some burger for Roger to grill hamburgers tonight. He seems to enjoy doing that and so I just turned it all over to him. (smile) I sure am smart!

I am just a wee bit weary this evening.......am tired and my head still hurts somewhat. I had my "third" eye bleed in the last two and half weeks. This one came on last night while my husband & I were watching a little television. I noticed the right side of my head began to hurt in and around the eye area, so I went in the front bathroom to look in the mirror. It was awful......worse than the other two. I got the old trusty ice pack out of the freezer and kept it on for a while. My husband convinced me to take my blood pressure......the top number was a little higher for me than usual, so he thinks my blood pressure is spiking & that is causing the eye bleeds. I took one of his Bayer aspirins and went to bed. It was almost the usual bedtime anyway, (smile). I had to get up early today as DirecTV was coming between 8 & 12. Normally, if I've slept well, I will be awake at that time but will sometimes lay in the bed in the morning and read a while before getting up.

Well.......the John Deere man was here as well this morning because the larger tractor wouldn't start. This is not good when you have a field full of hay and you need the tractors & equipment all up and running. The dish guy got here right around noon time.....was here about fifteen minutes and had our problem fixed and gone.....how simple it was. (smile) Unbeknown to us, when we had our roof replaced two years ago this August, they put the dish back up where it was before, but left out two of the screws that attached to the roof. The guy told me that it was sort of moving up & down at times. We were only receiving 38% signal....he said he was surprised we were getting any picture at all.......When he finished....it was at 98%. I can not believe that it took this long to cause problems but am very glad that it is finally fixed. It was very frustrating at times.

My mother came over to be with me while the guy was here......she and I decided to go have some lunch and run some errands together. She had to cash a check at my bank and fill up with gas, plus go to the grocery. I needed a few things, too, so we might as well as save gas and do what we can together. I also picked up my laptop from Casey.....he finished re-installing a program for me that had expired. He told me how he did it so I can do it next time. I didn't like the one that I had put in it's place and wanted him to take it off. I felt bad asking because he had spent so much time trying to get his Grandmother's computer connected to DSL service a couple of days ago. I am so very thankful that I made him call and talk to the tech support guy instead of us doing it like he told us as he was getting ready to leave. I told him that we would have no idea what the guy was talking about where he would.....& I was right....it turned out to be something that only Casey would have known to look for.(smile) Thanks, son! & your grandma thanks you too..........a blackberry cobbler is coming your way (& it will not be like the peach cobbler LOL!!!) I showed her what to get, trust me, you'll be able to eat this one with no problem!

My eye still hurts & I've even had a minor headache which I've been taking Advil for. I see my doctor next Wed. morning & I will be letting her know what's going on. Mom told me to take my blood pressure throughout the day and keep a record of the time and what it registers. I can take that with me and show .....but, she(mom) doesn't think it's running all that high. All I know, this eye bleed is worse.....the whole white of the eye is blood red. I was so embarrassed while out today, I went ahead and wore my sunglasses in the grocery store because it looks so bad.(smile) Vanity!

I am having Italian Meatballs for supper....they've been simmering for past hour and half & the house is smelling wonderful. So, guess I will go now and have some. Roger & Wayne went golfing......he said they would probably only play nine holes...so, good night all & enjoy the evening.

Our trip down to Springfield turned out to be really nice.......looks like we will go ahead and attend the Ladies
Conference in November. It sounds like it will be great.....they are looking for around a thousand ladies to
attend. I really loved the speaker lady that was there.......she lost her sight when she was a teenager & didn't let it
hold her back from living her life to the fullest. Married in college and has two boys now....she has written two books as well as some ladies Bible studies, does public speaking....etc. The young lady who played Blair in "The Facts of Life" is also one of the speakers scheduled in Nov. as well as a couple of singers.

Today was a good day, did some needed shopping......changed the Church sign......stocked the candy bag for tomorrow.......did a couple of loads of laundry.....managed to get the front mowed before the sudden thunderstorm put a stop to it.....came in and showered, then Fritz and I went over to Mom's for supper. I had bought a Lemon Peppered Roasted chicken and she fixed the rest of the meal. Was very good. We then played a game of SuperScrabble (which I won) and then Fritz and I came home. I would be in bed, but needed to finish a load of clothes before going. Roger & Wayne left yesterday to go to Kansas so they can bring the smaller John Deere tractor back as they need it to get the haying done. Saw several fields already cut and baled......it's been so hectic with the weather, hard to have enough days in between rain showers to get it cut, cured, & baled. Not sure when we will have a dry spell.......but that's okay....everything is nice and green. I am not having to water the flowers every day like last year. Yea!

At least the thunderstorm that came up earlier didn't hang around long......it's nice and quiet outside at this time. Not sure if it is going to stay that way or not as I saw storms in the forecast through tomorrow. Frtiz is sleeping with me while Roger is in Kansas.....I'm sure he will let me know if a storm comes up in the night. (smile) He's deathly afraid of thunder and lightening for some reason and tries to get as close as he can to cuddle.

Well, need to go put some softner in the washer & finish it up so I can get to bed........will read a bit before turning out the lights. Everyone have a good night......and remember this....................................

Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul and sings the tune without words and never stops........at all.
-------------------------------------------Emily Dickinson

This has been a "weird" week for me........started out on Monday......I was sitting a watching Tiger win the U.S. Open and talking to my mom on the phone when I noticed my right eye was really bothering me (pain wise), so I went in to the bathroom and looked in the mirror. I told my mom that I had another one of those really bad "eye" bleeds in the same place (it happened the Wed. before while we were out shopping, but that one didn't hurt like this did). She wanted to come and get me and take me to the doctor right then. I told her to just wait and let me call Roger. He suggested I call my CML doctor and see what she says since this is listed as one of the side affects of my medication. Welllllll....she didn't know anything about that and said to go see my eye doctor right away. So, off we went...now it's going on four o'clock and the doctor was getting ready to leave, so he had to wait on me. Once there, he does the normal testing stuff....then dilates the eyes. I had to sit there for probably twenty to thirty minutes before he came back in and looked in both eyes......proceeded to tell me that they were clear inside...that this was just broke & bleeding blood vessels, nothing to worry about and they would clear up in about 3 weeks. Said that stress, high blood pressure, as well as heavy lifting causes this (none of this pertained to me), so I showed him the paperwork from the drug company about my medication and it's "long" list of side affects.....he put it down in my records, charged me 50$ and sent me on my way............I told my husband that I guess I paid fifty bucks for "peace of mind".
I came home and looked on-line for the stuff on my medication, printed it all off, and will be taking it to my doctor when I see her on the 2nd. She is suppose to be a "specialist" and even did her internship with a great doctor during the trials.....one would think she would know all of this......sometimes I feel like we might be better off "treating" ourselves.
Back to the eye......now, it only looks bad......doesn't hurt now. My husband and son, both have these from time to time.......I know they look worse than they are, but just scares the you know what out of you when it first happens. I am hoping that it clears up a bit more by tomorrow as Lori & I are going to Springfield for a gathering of Pastor's wives and a meeting at High Street Baptist Church about a fall Ladies Conference to see if it is something our ladies would be interested in. It will be from 7 till 8:30 & I am kind of looking forward to our little get a way as we plan to spend the night, do a little shopping the next day before coming back home. Wonder if I should purchase a light tinted pair of sunglasses to wear just in case....(smile)

Yesterday, I tried to hang some sheets outside on my clothesline and they fell on the ground, so I had to rewash them. Am trying to dry them a little at a time now in the dryer. I really need to get that fixed......the way it is at the present, it wads the sheets up in a big ball instead of drying them properly. I hate wrinkled up sheets! Other little things kept happening, till I finally just gave up and laid around on the sofa and watched t.v..........I hate days like that!

I really feel bad for all those people who are getting flooded from the swelling of the Mississippi River.....the pictures on television look awful. Suppose to crest in St. Louis by this weekend, I think. Already coming up the steps at the Arch. We've really had a wet spring and now the beginning of summer. We aren't having any flooding around close where we're at.....but, we're having problems getting into the hay field to get the hay baled up for winter. Not enough dry days in between the pouring down rainstorms......would only bury up the equipment right now. Normally, we have ours all done & in the barn by the end of June....not going to happen this year. Last year, we had just the opposite problem with a really dry July, August, & September. Grass dried up, water dried up.....people had to hay earlier in the fall as they ran out of pasture.....the cows suffered.....always something it seems anymore.

Well, I see it is already noon time and I haven't had a bite to eat yet, so guess I need to get off the computer and take care of that. Along with getting some other things done that I've neglected the last couple of days. So much to do & never enough time in the day to get it all done.....(LOL!!!)

Glad this week is winding down. I am so tired........my brother-in-law came last Sunday and stayed until Tuesday late afternoon. Then, he and his wife came back on Wednesday around noon. I had already gone grocery shopping as I had planned a fish fry that night. While the guys went golfing, Mom and I took Donna to Rolla (about 26 miles from here) shopping. I paid off my credit card bill while down there and we went to a couple of stores before heading over to Lowes so Mom could see if they had the "sheers" she liked from another Lowes that only had two or three in stock and she decided she needed eight. She's going to make"scarves" out of them. They did have them, so she purchased eight. I started in cooking as soon as we got home because I had to get the cold slaw in the fridge so it would have time to "marinate" as well as one of those Cherry Cheese Pies so it would have time to set up. The guys came in around 6:15 just as I started cooking the cat fish. I warmed up some baked beans I had in the fridge along with some corn and stuff mom brought over, also fried some french fries. Needless to say, we had more than enough food for the six of us. I had also made a "fruit" plate with some wonderful Bing Cherries and strawberries and orange slices. I think it all went very good and we were all stuffed! They left soon after since they had nearly a two hour drive back up to the cottages and mom & I cleaned up the kitchen. The next day I spent laying around all day long and just watching all my stories that I had collected over the last two weeks. I was exhausted from the two days of shopping plus all the cooking. It's hard to make some of my family understand this side of having the Chronic form of Leukemia that I have.....even though the medicine seems to be holding it in remission.....the awful fatigue I get when I have done too much without resting and pacing myself. I told my mom I am sure it is because of the low grade anemia (my red blood cell count & hemoglobin
run low) as well as also being side affect of the medication, too. Anyway, Roger went over to the cottages without me and they played some more golf....... The next day, in the afternoon, he and I went back over to the cottages and spent the evening with them. Donna and I went to the big Walmart Supercenter they have there while Randy and Roger got in nine holes of golf before dark. We then went out to this little hole in the wall restaurant and I think Donna and I were the only ones who had good food......the guy's steaks were covered in black pepper, (smile). Roger & I got back home around ten last night. Today, I was busy running errands this morning. I finally got the little dab of ironing done that I had been putting off for two weeks along with some loads of laundry. I then went out a little after five and started cutting the front yard as well as up the drive way, around Roger's garage building, the sides and directly behind the house. I finished up right before eight & after putting everything away and the flower pots back in their places and hanging out the new garden flag I had purchased yesterday.....Fritz and I took the Doodlebug over to Wayne's and visited a bit with him & mom. I ate some of their "cold" supper of steak, white beans, and potatoes. When I got back home, I finished up with some of the laundry that I had done and decided to check out my email which has "backed up" on me again.....will go in and just delete a bunch, I'm sure. Probably stuff I've already seen once or twice already anyway.......Whew.....just reading what I've written makes me tired all over again. (smile)

Well, the clothes I was waiting on in the dryer are done and hung on hangers, so I am off to bed. Until next time..........everyone Keep looking Up!

It has been such a busy time around our house the past few days and I am not sure when it is going to slow down any. My brother-in-law & his wife should be here by Sunday night for a few days. I think Roger said that he & his brother will get up the next morning & head to Kentucky (about 3 1/2 hr.drive from our house) to see how their mother is doing and maybe see some of their other extended family. It was two Christmas' ago since we got to see their mom......wasn't a good thing. She has dementia with the on set of Alzheimer's
and you really don't know what you will find when you go to visit with her. She might know who you are & she might not. Really a sad situation. I think she is 81 or 82 years old as of last January. When she first went into the nursing home, I wanted Roger to move her up here to one closer to us so we could visit her daily.....he didn't want to because she has a sister & brother still living & thought that with her staying there....they would be able to visit her.....Roger's older brother still lives there, too, & it would give him the chance to visit (he doesn't). Roger didn't want them to feel we were being selfish by moving her up here.

I went over and helped my mother clean off their front enclosed porch yesterday and then I carried all her sewing stuff out there and put it where she wanted it. Today we found and bought a small computer desk that's on rollers.....so I helped her put it together and set up her computer once again. Now it is all ready for Casey to "hopefully" set it up for wireless internet service. I really hated to ask him........but no one else can do it. I told mom that if we can't get it to where it will connect to the internet, she can at least sit and play games on it....(smile). Casey & Maleah are going to come for a "cook out" tomorrow evening, & he is going to do the computer stuff then. That way, he doesn't have to just make a special trip.......this way we get to all spend a little bit of time together. Yea!!

I see we have some more "weather" headed in our direction tomorrow. Could be some tense times. Also, the heat is here.....92, 92, 92, & 92. That's what I saw after tomorrow..(smile)...they couldn't even vary it any.

Well, after umpteen years...I am going to remove the acrylic nails this Saturday morning. I was kicking it around in my mind & discussing it with different people until I finally made the decision today. With the cost of 20$ fill ins every two weeks and then 3$ extra for each tip replacement for those that you lose....& with the price of gas going up and up....I just couldn't justify the added expense when i could use that 20$ somewhere else. The lady who takes care of my hair told me today that i probably should leave the acrylic off for a while anyway because of my health.....to take a break and give my regular nails time to build back up. I know it is going to be a good while for them to do that, but, it's time.

I am going to head off to bed now.....it is going on eleven thirty here and my eyes are getting tired. I fell earlier tonight in my brother's driveway and I am pretty sore. I took a pain pill earlier and it has taken affect......I am trying to get my body to relax a little.....I think it has by now....so it's off to dream land with thoughts of all I need to get done tomorrow. See Ya
